JOINT COMPOUNDS
Q: How can I tell the difference between a Lt Wt and a conventional compound?
A: Thomas Drywall Products has gone to great lengths to make buying the correct product for the correct application by color coding our boxes based on the weight of the product as well as the application it is used for. See Below:
Lt Wts = White box
Conventional = Kraft (Brown) box
RED color code = All Purpose
GREEN color code = Topping
BLACK color code = Easy sanding Topping
WHITE color code = Taping and Topping (All Phase)
Q: How long does TDP's compounds stay usable?
A: We recommend that TDP compounds be used within the first 30 days of production for best results. We do however, mandate that our products be rotated every 90 days at our Authorized dealers.
Q: How much mileage should I expect out of 1 box of joint compound?
A: The best way to judge mileage is 3 boxes per 1000 feet of drywall. Mileage does change based on application.
Q: Does Lt Wt compounds get less mileage than conventional compounds?
A: NO. Although Lt Wts weigh between 31 lbs and 43 lbs, the volume in a box of Lt Wt compound is still 3.5 gallons which is the same as conventional compounds.

Q: How much mileage per 50 lbs bag should I expect to get out of TDP's Decotex?
A: Mileage per bag varies on the pattern chosen by the applicator. Orange peels can get up to 1000 feet per bag while Knockdowns can typically expect to get 500 to 600 feet per bag.
Q: What is Decotex primarily used for? What pattern is best achieved with Decotex?
A: TDP Decotex texture is used for new applications as well as re-models. Decotex is considered an All Purpose texture that can achieve all types of spray patterns.

Q: What set times are TDP Accuset's available in?
A: TDP's Accuset setting compounds are available in 5 min, 20 min, 45 min and 90 min.
Q: Is TDP's Accuset products sandable?
A: Yes. Accuset has been formulated for easy sanding, excellent bond and good feel on the applicators knife.
Q: Is TDP's Accuset compounds made in a Lt Wt version?
A: All Accuset products weigh 18 lbs per bag and are considered Lt Wts.
